Join FranklinCovey thought leader Todd Davis, as he discusses your Circle of Concern- all things going around with little or no control and how to focus on your Circle of Influence- what things I can influence and control.

3) Circle of Influence Video from The 7 Habits

Watch how Steven Covey shared an experienced, where an one man increase effectiveness by focusing on his Inner Circle of Influence. Proactive people focus on their inner Circle of Influence where their efforts will made a positive difference in relationship and results. As a results, his Circle of Influence grows.

4) Habit 1 : Be-Proactive Presented by Stephen Covey

Be Proactive is about taking responsibility of your life and the ability to choose how will respond to a given stimulus or situation. You can't keep blaming everything on your parents or grandparents. Proactive people recognize that they are "response-able." They don't blame genetics, circumstances, conditions, or conditioning for their behavior.  Reactive people, are often affected by their physical environment. They find external sources to blame for their behavior. If the weather is good, they feel good. If it isn't, it affects their attitude and performance, and they blame the weather. “I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.”

Proactive people focus on the inner Circle of Influence - in other words, we must work on the things we can do something about. The positive energy we exert will cause our Circle of Influence to expand. Reactive people, focus on things that are in their Circle of Concern instead of their Circle of Influence, emanating negative energy, and causing their Circle of Influence to shrink.

5) The 7 Habits Transition Figure Video : Stone Kyambadde

(Stone Kyambadde’s story inspired Stephen Covey. He illustrates proactivity as a "transition person" able to reach out to teenage boys, many of whom have dropped out of school and are unemployed. He coaches, teaches, and mentors them, providing them opportunities that will allow them to become proactive and productive men in society.)
